Getting to Know Teryl

What is the best compliment you’ve been given? I have been told that I am “different” in a way that is “genuine, and authentic”.   After confiding to me, one person said, “I don’t usually talk to people like this.  I’m usually quite private about my personal life, but I just feel comfortable talking to you.   I know I can trust you.”

Glass half-full or half-empty?  The glass is refillable!

What brings you the greatest joy?  Spending time with my family! Seeing my daughters succeed at something that makes them happy.  Hearing my 3 daughters sing.  Dancing with my husband Rob.  Preparing and eating delicious food with my family.

What is on your bucket list?  A trip to the Holy Land, a trip to Scotland where my grandfather grew up, and a hot air balloon ride.

What is the best gift you’ve ever received?

My 3 daughters! Nothing compares to the gift of children!  Other memorable ones include:

  • Horseback riding lessons when I was a young girl.  My parents surprised me with a trip to buy my riding helmet, boots, and a crop on my birthday and told me that I would be starting riding lessons that weekend!
  • When I was sick in the hospital with pneumonia at about age 5, my mother was unable to come visit me one day so my big brother (15) biked to the hospital to bring me a bendable “Pokey” toy figure, my favourite character from the Gumby Show.
  • When I was about 4 or 5, my grandfather bought me a Nativity Scene with a removable baby Jesus, so I could take him out of the manger and play with Him.  I still have that set and put it out every Christmas.  In later years, I loved watching my daughters play with it.
